The MBA Selection Process at IIT Roorkee
Rounds of Admission
- If necessary, admissions may be held in more than one round.
- On short notice, candidates must have their fees and documentation ready.
Graduates applying based on their CAT 2024 score fall under Category I.
- Weighting of CAT Score: 60%
- Weighting for the personal interview: 30%
- Weighting for Work Experience: 10%
Category II: JEE or JEE Advanced-admitted IIT graduates
- CAT Score: Not Required
- Shortlisting is determined by a 100% in-person interview.
Offer of Admission and Registration
- Overall performance (merit list) determines admission.
- Offers of temporary admission will be posted on the IITR website and distributed by email.
- By the deadline specified in the offer letter, candidates must deposit the entire fee.
Policy for Fee Refunds
- Students who register but do not join or who depart after joining will not receive a refund.
- The only money that will be reimbursed is the mess balance and security deposit.
Cancellation of Admission
- If a candidate is determined to be ineligible at any point, admission may be revoked.
- Roorkee has jurisdiction over all disputes pertaining to admission.

- Use the “Proceed for Payment” option to pay the application fee.
- The application form does not need to be sent to IIT Roorkee; instead, download it and save a copy for future use.
- Candidates will receive a unique application ID upon submission, which they can use for all upcoming correspondence.
Note: You must enter the CAT Registration Number and Percentile accurately. Any disparity could result in an abrupt cancellation.

IIT Roorkee MBA Requirements for Shortlisting
All-around Eligibility:
- a graduate degree in any field or a professional credential recognized by UGC as being on par with a university degree.
- For General, OBC, and EWS candidates, a minimum score of 60% (or an equivalent CGPA) is needed, while for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, it is 55%.
- It is required to have a valid CAT 2024 score.
Students in their final year:
- Students in their final year may apply.
- If chosen, admission will be provisional until they meet all degree requirements by the deadline with the minimum required percentage or CGPA.
- The total marks earned for the qualifying degree will be used to calculate the percentage or CGPA.
The IIT graduates are exempt.
- CAT 2024 requirements do not apply to candidates who graduated from IITs (admitted through IIT-JEE) with a CGPA of 7.0 or higher (on a 10-point scale).
Scheme for Golden Girls (For Female Candidates)
- Female candidates who hold a First Rank (Gold Medal) from an IIT or a Top 50 NIRF-ranked institute/university in the most recent year are eligible for direct admission.
- Relaxation: All other institute requirements apply, but there are no national entrance exams to take.
- Supernumerary admissions (extra seats).
Note: Students in their final year are not eligible for this program.
Candidates Sponsored Full-Time
- At least two years of full-time work experience in a government or autonomous organization, public or private company, registered firm, or educational institution is required.
- Financial requirements, such as a turnover of more than ₹5 crore over the previous two years, must be met by the employer.
Candidates from Other Countries
- must fulfill the general requirements for eligibility.
